Many peoples

The Russian Federation has many republics, regions and ethnic groups. Russian is the federal language, but regional languages matter too and some have official status.

Life is very different in big cities, small towns and remote areas. Moscow and Saint Petersburg hold most of the big cultural and economic institutions, while other regions have their own pace.

Daily life

Books, music, sports, family dinners and seasonal holidays are part of social life, with differences by region, age and local customs.
